At Oregon Inlet bluefish have been caught just outside the inlet, the headboats have been getting in on the action also. Offshore, the catch has had quite a bit of variety, including sailfish, mako shark, gaffer dolphin, barracuda and blackfin tuna.
Some big bluefish have been biting on Hatteras Island beaches, near ramps 44 and 43. Sea mullet have been reported at Ramp 45. A few big red drum were reported at Ramp 55 last Monday night, and one was caught off the pier Tuesday morning. The offshore fleet is caughing dolphin, mako and citation wahoo.
The early-week weather has been great down on Ocracoke Island, and the surf has given up large bluefish, smaller blues, scattered sea mullet, some black drum and a few large red drum along the beach. On Portsmouth Island, cobia continue to bite at Drum Inlet.
